i love Bic Runga. RP needs a little more of her!
Isn't this sort of a backstreet boy song they used to play years ago? "This Goes Out to You"? or "This is Going out to Everyone"? just a different pop version of a pop song that's just poppy?
hahahaa
This is a decent tune—however her albums have an inconsistent quality and never hold up to the promise of her mega song "Sway".
bic runga? that's hilarious....but i am a bit pissed
And speaking of the King, they put Joni Mitchell after?
Alex
Liz Fair to meddlin'. 7.
Bic Runga has no ga at the end, like it was run ga, it's straight and one, like roonga!, Ok?
She's nice!
Poor woman, boxed between Elliot smith and Joni Mitchell.
Her little girly voice never had a chance.

Definitly don't want to hear the rest then...her voice is nice, the lyrics and tune aren't..
Bought this album because of this song. Good call
Horendously generic.

Indeed... not a hot song though

Having lived in both places I can say that when a local starts making waves everyone jumps on board. NZ has a very healthy and thriving local / national music scene. Their mainstream media often put more emphasis on local / national talent and acts than they do on international ones.
Which is the way it should be, I reckon.
Nice to hear some NZ tunes, I just got back from a few months down down under! Agree with your comment...it was really cool to see the great pride in local music (and there is a ton of great NZ music!)...and nice for visitors like me to walk into any music store and have a dedicated "New Zealand" section to raid.
Great to hear a bit of Bic

I agree with your comments. It was interesting when I lived there how certain songs from NZ, Aus. and Great Britian gained popularity way before they hit North America. Then when I came back to Canada, some of these same songs were just starting to get radio play. Worked well if you liked the song, sucked if you didn't like it the first time.
I like Bic's voice and the way she uses it. I'll have to check out this album. Plus, I like knowing that she sounds just as good live as she does in the studio.
Cliche-salad lyrics sung w/ boring, occassionally awkward phrasing, backed w/ mediocre music. Not offensive, but doesn't inspire me to go find any more of her work.

biggest selling album ever in New Zealand, and I just don't get it :-k
By American standards NZ has a tiny population, around 4 million. One where you somehow feel that you know every second person - not too dissimilar from the way it is here in Ireland, also with a population of around 4 million.

I didn't before you mentioned it...but now I do!
Shades of Sixpence at the beginning, ultimately likable.
Lovely. I've got two of her albums and they are both appealingly solid. And solidly appealing.
Have to keep in mind, Bic Runga is part of the Finn Bros. stable, which hugely legitimizes her. She opened for them on their recent tour and, to me, came across, as more "cool" than "girl."
Great addition. A total favorite over on Rock Chicks Radio.
But Rebecca! Letting in a little pop, 'eh? ;)

Yeah, she really flicks my Bic. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Nice voice. Pleasant pop.

Maybe you just have to listen to it again and you'll see what a beautiful little song this is.. :D
I'm not buying it, but I am listening.

Kinda reminds me of Fountains of Wayne, if the singer was female. Just seems to have the same kind of "bounce" to it. Maybe I'm just crazy. ;)
is this originally her song? is this a cover, or does it just sound like something the smiths might have done fifteen years ago?
Cute girlmusic. She sounds like she knows how it feels to be a Slave of New York...
Bic sounds like she could use some sleep. ;)
But seriously, not a bad song, kind of pop-ish.
