this guy is great - isn't he...
Got tickets to see Lyle tomorrow night, can't wait.
Bum, in this lyric, refers to "rodeo bum", not a hobo. Think "ski bum". Great interpretation of a well written song.
Another Lyle after my own heart!!!!!!

If you're a dyed in the wool Lyle Lovett fan no words can describe how much fun it is to listen to his music. thanksRP

Something about Lyle Lovett's music just makes me grin like a village idiot without the village...

Just a warning, if you visit Austin you won't want to leave. But I always say it's not really Texas bc it's got it's on groove.
I only heard very little from Lyle Lovett before to be a RP listener. I am very grateful to RP for that I can discover such talent. It just makes me want to travel to Texas. And believe me, everything was done these late years to discourage that... Which is stupid, because a region cannot be reduced to its worst parts, can it?

Well, it's not strictly a Lovett song; it was written by Michael Martin Murphey and Boomer somebody.
Boomer Castleman and Michael Martin Murphey. The focus of this album was on Texas songwriters (every tune is a cover), which just makes it all the more charming a collection. Most excellent tune from Mr. Lovett.
A DJ remarked once regarding one of the many of Lyle's self penned songs, that Lyle's tongue was firmly in his cheek when singing his songs.
I'm a big fan of Lyle, in a big way because of that very tongue/cheek thing he can do.
This whole album (2 disk set) is full of Lyle covering some of his favorite songs. Classic Lyle.
YES! YES! More Lyle!

Well sung, well played, but it sounds like any number of Lyle Lovett songs.

Another Lyle Lovett tune. Awesome guys!
Lyle is ALWAYS a good choice. :nodhead:

Exactly my thoughts when this came on.
