I've always loved Tori Amos. I don't see why people's comments on here have to be so mean. If I don't like a song, I just don't post anything. Perhaps some of the negative people here should consider that as a viable option.

Is this croaking supposed to be singing? She should stick to instrumentals.

Throwing stones is easy. I like this one. She shows a lot of range in her voice. Nice piano/bass mix. Good lyrics. I like mine with syrup.

Then why were you listening to her to begin with?

     Another thing:  TORI AMOS IS THE PIANO GENIUS.  Kate Bush was not tinkling on ivory keys at 2 and a half.  Tori makes love to her piano, KB does no such thing.  She's not prude, but she doesn't have the same emotional acuteness nor the same sexual undertones that are so strong in Tori's music (though she does have some sexual overtones, but little sexual frankness).  They are two completely different artists.  Genius songs like Cornflake Girl and Crucify could have never, ever come from her.  I just don't see it.

The way they eq'd her rasp in a couple of places, I knew would put a few people off, but it was absolutely deliberate AND absolutely cool.  I have a love/hate with Ms. Amos, largely because I fell so hard for her music when I first heard it... put someone up on a pedestal too high and you are setting them up to fall I suppose.  But anyway, some musicians attach meaning not only to their words... not only to the notes, not only their phrasing, but to deeper and deeper aspects of their delivery (breathing, 'breaking' notes, lip shape when singing, distance/angle from mic, etc).  I may sound snobby, but it tells a bit about someone when they describe this sort of nuance as "irritating".  Specifically, how superficially they are listening to the song.  I'm as guilty of these sorts of leaps as anyone... I guess that's why I try to stay positive about stuff so that, later, when I realize I was missing something, I don't feel like an idiot :)

I still regret my take on Rap which I loudly and vocally shared with my friends in High School.  When I finally had my rap "eureka" I really regretted my previous position.  That being said, I guess I should be less sensitive to being utterly and completely wrong.

This was the first Amos CD that I liked all the way through, and I liked it quite a bit.

Sexiest genius on the planet. 10.

I agree "LadyJ". I don't have this cd, but from what I have heard here on RP, it sounds like Tori's strongest since at least "Under The Pink". It may even rank with her first. Really interesting and good updating of the instrumental sound along with nice songwriting and song construction.

I'm a Tori fan and this is the only song that I have heard from her new album that I actually like so far.

seems alright for a ta song, however the way she sings the ascending aaaaaaahhhhhhhh really gets on my nerves, it could be the quality of the mp3 though, I'm not sure. I'm generally not a big fan of ta's music.

I think Tori is great too....however that's subjective. What is true is that if he's going to say it's recycled garbage, then he really needs to reference the original garbage. Kevin

Her voice is interesting, especially when it cracks (which it does a bit too often); instrumentation is mellifluous, which is lovely and soothing but contrasts a bit much with the voice--guess that makes it interesting. Would listen to it again . . . but the tunewriter skimped on the variety of notes . . . as has been the trend in the last four songs or so. :p

Well I'll be honest. I was going to say that this is the best Kate Bush song I've heard in a long time. And surprise! Its Kate's most sincere flatterer! But As I said "best I've heard in a long time" Maybe Tori is emerging from Ms. Bush's creative shadow after all! But what's with her and breakfast food?
