I just love that RP allows songs to be played in 'My Favorites' despite them NEVER getting 'Main Mix' air play. 

I've got this one at 8, always loved it and even grew up hearing it when it was overplayed - LLRP!!

I remember seeing him as a semi-regular guest on The Phil Donahue Show as a kid in grade school. Funny as hell! And as graceful as his music. Glad to be one of the 5%'s!

Well, I'm not sorry for your deploration of this song. Lots of things were overplayed, it's nice to hear one come back every once in awhile. Some times we only hear songs like this when the artist passes away or it's used as bumper music on the radio.

I like Cake's version of Ruby.  Especially then end, when it sounds like he is yelling out the door for Ruby to come back.  I'm generally not a fan of Kenny Rogers, but a few of his tunes really bring back good memories of being a kid, and this is one of them.

Good to hear this after a Cake cover of 'Don't take your love to town' - don't think we didn't notice that bit of DJing... :)

Pity about the truck-driver key change in this though... Still an annoyingly hummable song that often pops into my head.

I had to double check that Boxee didn't somehow change the station on me.  Really?  Kenny freakin' Rogers?  I liked this song when I was about 9.  Did you really just play that song?  I say it doesn't really go with the format... just my opinion, though.

I have nothing good to say about this. Every aspect of it, from the canned music to the cornball lyrics and bumpersticker cliché that we're left with is the leading representative of the vast wasteland that mainstream country music became and still is. A generation passed thinking country music was only that horrible smear on American music and this is the cockroach that still scours its bones for one last meal.
And I say this with a huge admiration for cheese. Maybe we can get the Beat Farmers doing Lucille.

In all fairness, it's not a terrible song. It's a hell of a lot better than his later easy-listening output. Pretty funny coming after the Cake cover of "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town," though. When it came on just now, I thought, "Oh, whose cover is this?"
